Why should I use SIP Trunking?

PureIP.whyThis is a question that many IT Directors and IT Managers might ask themselves before realising the benefits of a SIP Trunking solution, so we’ve put together four reasons concisely covering why organistions should use a SIP Trunking solution.

  1. Flexibility – The rich set of features you can receive through using a SIP Trunking solution should be one of the most attractive benefits to IT Directors and IT Managers. An organisation with multiple locations, not just in one country but spread across different regions across the Globe, having the capability to route multiple calls from your existing local numbers, to any national or international number within your company at the same cost is a flexibility you just don’t receive with traditional fixed telephone lines.
  2. Single Network – A dedicated channel via your IP provides a single voice path for your telephony, routing your voice traffic through a single gateway, removing the reliance on an ISDN. Combining the Voice and Data networks eliminates the need for maintaining separate legacy solutions, enabling you to build robust, reliable and expandable IP services. You can then prioritise the different types of traffic to maintain a high quality transmission, reducing the cost and complexity of maintaining two networks.
  3. Increased Control – SIP Trunking gives businesses increased control over their telephony network that was previously unavailable with a traditional wired circuit from a telecoms operator. Once transitioned onto a SIP Trunk, business are free from the physical connection of their telephony exchange and can move their telephony from different physical locations without having to update the contact numbers in a matter of minutes. All that is needed is a connection to the Internet to make the transition, resulting in very minimal impact on customers - if any at all.
  4. Disaster Prevention – As business grow and expand into new territories they have to mitigate against any unfortunate events, such as a disaster – either natural or human error. SIP Trunking removes the risk of having a single point of failure or reliance on a network provider giving increased peace of mind for the business, as it does not rely on a single hardwired connection. In the event the Internet connection fails, calls can simply be re-routed through another server to an alternate company location, allowing your business to continue during a period of disruption.
